RE: Your latest campground visitor?

there were some 50-60 of these guyes roaming around the COE park of Grainger Texas. I thought it was really funny, the dogs didn't know heads or tails.
took long enough

Sorry, but have to correct ya....I was born and raised in that community and its Granger....not Grainger. BTW: That was prime farmland when I grew up there.

RE: Bright lights in neighbors back yard

I like the idea of putting up your own bright light, aimed obviously at your neighbors bedroom. But put it on a timer where it stays on for 5 minutes and off for 5. That should annoy anyone. Perhaps a boombox speaker with the boom boom music on for 5 and off for 5, of course also aimed at his house.

RE: Adapter 15amp/30amp to 50 amp

Any my unit is indeed UL approved, it is a different manufacturer than the one listed so I can't judge that one.
I don't think it is, the parts to build it might be ul approved, but I don't see how you could get ul approval on a device like this for reasons stated by Fred.
I am not absolutly positive, but the box sates "UL Listed" and I have a difficult time finding that true. The UL labs would find this dangerous, because it has two input plugs and one output.
If they hooked it up to a stove, turned the stove burner on, and then plugged in one of the plugs, they would quickly find that the other plug sparks if it is near a metal surface, causing the product to fail it's safety "Giggle Test".
Sam
I'm sure that "Fred" is a force to be reconned with and you certainly are entitled to your assessment of my credibility and ability to read a label and to assess my use of the device for several years with nothing but a series of success. What exactly has your experience been using the device? What faults and failures have you personally experienced? I'm sure your speaking from first hand experience and not just a knee jerk response.

RE: Adapter 15amp/30amp to 50 amp

In fairness his listing does say:
"NOT FOR USE IN PARKS WITH GFI RECEPTACLES."
but the whole idea of this providing a 50A service is just plain wrong. Perhaps it provides HALF of a 50A service. (50A @ 110V but certainly not 2x50A @ 110V).
Re=read the box....it says provides "service for 50 amp RV's". Yes its a play on words, but it doesn't claim to provide 50 amp service only service for 50 amp RV's.
And your right, it only provides a total of from 45 to 60 amps of potential amperage depending on the pair of outlets you plug into. Thats only half the optimum voltage a true 50 amp shorepower provides.
But.......its still a lot better than only 30 amps. Any my unit is indeed UL approved, it is a different manufacturer than the one listed so I can't judge that one.

RE: Adapter 15amp/30amp to 50 amp

I have one that I purchased several years ago for $99.99. It does work as advertised and it WILL NOT work with a GFI plug. I don't know how it can be built for 30 bucks considering what the plugs sell for.
You need to remember, your not going to get the total of 100 amps that your present 50 amp RV is looking for, but you will get a total of 50 amps instead of only 30 amps without the unit. So your only ahead by 15 or 20 amps. But that makes it doable with energy management.

RE: RV resort membership

We aren't members of Western Horizons but have sat in on two of their sales promotions. Neither presentation was a hard sell. From our experience with them, they are honorable and RVer orientated. I'd suggest taking the freebe but be very cautious about spending a bunch of money on the membership.

RE: could I be THIS lucky?

Boy 0 Boy are we conditioned.....
We see diesel at $3.79 +/- a cent or two and we think we're getting a bargain.
But, like everyone else, I'm sitting here with a full tank assuming that it will only go up.

RE: Gout

Like mentioned before, Allopurinol on a daily basis keeps mine under control. But if I do have a flair up, one or two Indomethacin tablets will knock it out in 12 hours.
Also, another food irritant is shrimp....my downfall... Of course the above medications can only be prescribed by a physician.

Finally my main man Tony gets his win, but in all honesty, I really hate it that Carl did himself in along with the Biffer. Carl really felt bad about that instance.

RE: How long should Walk thru at dealership take for inspecting?

We took factory delivery for our Teton and the inspection took four days. When we left it was 100% ready to roll :B No issues at all.
I admire your diligence and attention to detail, but I can't imagine an inspection of an RV taking 4 days. Does that include the time spent by the dealer fixing problems???? I'm not trying to slam you, I'm just curious.

RE: How long should Walk thru at dealership take for inspecting?

Our walk thru's an the first used MH we purchased a few years ago took about an hour. The janitor who did the walk thru with us didn't know nearly as much about an RV as I did from prior experiences with them.
We traded a few years later and bought a new MH and that walk thru took about an hour, most of that time was spent by the technician trying to get the doghous open, it was carpet glued tight :)
While he worked on that, I tested all the systems.
Our present MH took about an hour, purchased used and again, the person doing the walk thru with me was pretty ignorant to RV's. But I made a small list of things I wanted corrected, like all new coach and chassis batteries and a complete chassis service.

What can we do to get the time in jail spent in Arizona....Sheriff Joe would love to have charge of his stay. :) Even if its only a few days, it would seem like a lifetime.

RE: support under the leveler feet

I use four 2"x6" pieces of wood about 16" long. I put a screw in eye bolt into each one so I can retrieve them with my awning hook. Never had a problem sinking into soft ground with them. But I only need them about 20% of the time.

RE: Tire Pressure

Without knowing what tire you have, nor the weight of your RV its difficult to give you a reliable answer. Try this page to get an idea of what Michelin recommends for various tire sizes and weights of the vehicle. Its what I use to arrive at the correct pressure front and rear for my MH.

RE: OJ found guilty

Don't get too excited about a simple conviction......with his access to good attorneys, he'll walk with a slap on the wrist or the whole thing will be tied up in appeals forever. Sometimes, there just isn't any justice.

RE: Deep Creep

I know your trying to keep that generator in tip top shape, but I think that perhaps your a bit overboard on preventive medicine. I'd just use the Stabil when necessary and run the lil' bugger at least every 2 months under some load for a while.
